Geoff Donati Makes Return to Formula Drift ProSpec

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 6, 2022) -Drift Indy is excited to announce the return of Geoff Donati to Formula Drift ProSpec.

After a petition citing his years of experience, former success in ProAm competitions and continued support and participation in drift events at the grassroots level was made, FD accepted him back for the 2023 season.

When Donati started drifting in 2014 he knew next to nothing about working on cars. Fast forward eight years and he’s now known for his attention to detail and super clean builds. His first taste of competitive drifting was in 2015 at Street Life Tour. He went on to compete in a full season of Midwest Drift Union the next year, finishing fourth overall. In the following season, Donati won three of four rounds, becoming the only driver in MDU history to win three rounds in a row.

For his dominating performance that season he was awarded his Pro 2 license and competed in Pro 2 from 2018 to 2019. His best result that season was fourth place in Orlando. Following that season, Donati took a step back to focus on his career but has been eyeing a return to FD since 2020. In the meantime, he’s turned hundreds and hundreds of laps at Kil-kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio at Drift Indy events.

Donati will be competing in a 2JZ-swapped BMW E46 that he, Dan Perlenfein and Cory Misko have built. He began testing the car at Drift Indy’s Halloween Jam the weekend of Oct. 28 and will continue tweaking and perfecting the setup ahead of the beginning of the season.

Donati will be backed by sponsors Konig Wheels, Turbo Smart, Tuner Tools, BC Racing, Link ECU, Manley and the Drift Indy organization. His return to competition is an exciting opportunity to showcase the skills and style of Midwest drifting on a nation-wide scale.
