Event Format / Series
Drift Indy Gaming Virtual is an “off-season” annual series featuring multiple events and being hosted remotely and in person. All drivers start with zero points at the beginning of a new season. At the end of a season, the final event will determine the series winners. (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
Drift Indy Gaming Virtual is committed to raising the bar in drifting simulation competition. As such, the new series format is as follows:
- A total of two (2) Top 32 qualifier events will be held before the final Top 16 championship round in Dayton, Ohio (Vyral Compound)
- The Top 8 of Q1 & Q2 will be invited to compete in the final Top 16 round held on-site at the Vyral Compound.
- There will be awards per event for podium finishers (1st, 2nd, 3rd) for each qualifier round and the championship round.
Registration
- Before each qualifier event, a pre-approval application will be hosted on driftindy.com. It must be filled out if a driver wishes to be eligible to compete in a DI Virtual event. A registration fee of $20 will be collected at the time of registration.
- The application will ask about various details about the driver’s ability to compete in this format (E.g., the Sim rig, computer specs, internet connectivity, etc.).
- Staff will review each application and approve drivers to be submitted to a random lottery.
- If a driver’s application is disapproved, the driver has five (5) days to take corrective action before the application is discarded, and the entry fee is forfeited.
- If drivers finish within the Top 8 in the Q1 event, they may not register for the Q2 event. Any other driver in the Q1 event can register for the Q2 event.
- Any driver who does not show up will be disallowed to compete in subsequent events for the year and will forfeit any entry fees paid.
- If any qualifying driver is unable to attend the final in-person event, they will be removed from the bracket, and all other drivers will be promoted to that ranking and below. Drivers outside the Top 8 can be promoted if the need arises.
Points System
- Drift Indy Gaming Virtual operates on a seasonal series points system; points tables are below.
- At the first event of the season, all drivers will have zero points.
- Points will be distributed based on the driver’s final position within the Top 8 of each qualifier round.
- Following each event, points will be added to a series points board displaying Q1 and Q2 qualifiers, respectively.

Bracket Assignment
Qualifier Event:
Each application will be submitted to a random name selector (The Wheel of Men) to determine the Top 32 bracket, which will be called from 32 to 1.
Final Top 16
Q1 and Q2 will have their scores published ahead of the final event, and thus will be seeded according to finish position. In this scenario it is essentially a tie between qualifying groups (I.e. Q1 finishes at 1A, Q2 finishes at 1B, and so on through each of the Top 8 finishers). The bracket will be assigned as shown below.
